How We Met

My story with Caron-Anne began quietly, in December 2024, at a Christmas carol night. I didn’t know it then, but she had noticed me in the crowd. For her it was just a fleeting moment, but for me, it would become the start of something far greater than either of us expected.

A few months later, in February 2025, our paths crossed properly. What started as small conversations while sorting out technical issues at church soon grew into moments of teamwork and laughter. Whether it was fixing sound glitches or helping with stage makeup, I kept finding myself next to her — and enjoying it more each time.

The real turning point for us was being cast in a church play together. Rehearsals and shared performances gave us the chance to really see each other — not just on stage, but in the little moments in between. The conversations, the encouragement, the smiles that lingered… that’s where I began to realise she was becoming very important to me.

But it wasn’t without its challenges. At first, I told myself I only wanted friendship. I had grown comfortable with being alone and thought that was my reality. Caron-Anne, however, kept praying for the husband she believed God had prepared for her. What I didn’t realise then was that I already loved her. She saw it long before I admitted it to myself.

Then one evening, after a worship practice, everything changed for me. Caron-Anne and I shared a moment of complete honesty and vulnerability, opening up about our love for Jesus Christ and how much worship meant to both of us. That night, with faith and love at the very centre of our conversation, something clicked — and I knew this was more than friendship.

After practice, we grabbed a McDonald’s coffee and ended up sitting and talking for hours. I’ll never forget that simple but unforgettable moment. Somewhere between the laughter and the depth of our conversation, I turned to her and asked her to be my girlfriend.

As our relationship grew and we began meeting each other’s families and the important people in our lives, it became clear to us that none of this was coincidence — it was God’s perfect timing and plan. Worshipping together became the heart of our relationship, something that drew us closer not only to each other, but also to Him.

Before long, God opened another door. Together, we stepped into leadership as the worship leaders of Living Waters Family Church. Side by side, we’ve continued to grow — building a ministry and a life that is rooted in love, faith, and purpose.

The Proposal

On the morning of 15 August 2025, my day started out like any other Friday. As usual, my brother-in-law dropped me off at Martin’s house around 07:00. It had become our little tradition — coffee together first thing in the morning, catching up on the week before he settled into work around 08:00. Breakfast always followed, and Martin knew my favourite: a two-egg spinach omelette, with either sparkling water or another cup of coffee. The rest of the day usually unfolded with conversation, laughter, and work, before we’d head to Centurion around 15:00 to begin the weekend.

But this Friday was different.

The moment I walked in, I felt it. The table wasn’t set in its usual casual way — it had been prepared with intention and care. Breakfast was already made, and I could see the excitement written all over Martin’s face. Worship music played softly in the background, filling the room with peace and reverence.

As we sat down, we began reflecting on the year — everything God had done for us, and everything He was still doing. Our words lingered on gratitude, our hearts completely aligned in faith. Then, as one of our favourite worship songs, One More Day by Sons of Sunday Elevation Worship, began to play, the atmosphere became unforgettable.

Martin turned to me, his voice steady yet filled with emotion, and asked me to marry him. In that moment, I didn’t need to think, not even for a second. My heart already knew — and I said yes.

That ordinary Friday morning instantly became extraordinary. It wasn’t just a proposal; it was a sacred promise before God — a moment drenched in love, faith, and blessing. It marked the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in our journey together.
